Two reasons why Bholi speaks very little are:

1.  She has a stammering problem and this prevented her from speaking        fluently with confidence. When other children make fun of her and imitate      her,  she withdraws into her own world.

2.  The entire village considered Bholi as a simpleton that upset her greatly. This put her off from speaking with others.
