with the initiation of industrial revolution in britain the demand of dye also increased .Thus,the British force the plantation of indigo on Indian soil.

The British cultivated indigo in India because the land in India was extremely fertile and the weather was just perfect to grow it...the British needed indigo dye for their textile industry and the fall of the production in West Indies forced the British to cultivate indigo in India.
