After the capture of Constantinople (capital of Eastern Roman Empire) by the Turks, the trade route between the European and Countries of India, Arab, etc. was blocked.
So, To continue trade with these countires the Europeans needed sone other route. Hence, the Europeans started searching for new routes and intheir journeys started dicovering new places in 1500's

shortly after crishtopher columbus returned other European realized he had not reached the Indies. they began to think of the American as a 'New world' they fought against each other and against the Turkish Empire. These wars were expensive . so they needed to find lots of gold, silver and precious stones to pay for them.
