Heya mate...
::::::::::::::::::::::

On February 5, 1922 there was a serious mob violence at Chauri- Chaura district of the United province.The local people attacked the protestors and then they violently collided with the police. Three protestors were killed in the police firing. Protestors then, burnt down the police station and around 23 police man were killed. Gandhi shocked at this incident and felt that without discipline and restrain on the part of the people the movement had proved to be a Himalayan Blunder.

He at once suspended the movement and set on fast for three weeks. Many Congress leaders welcomed this decision of Gandhi , but in the same time there some other leaders didnot like to stop the movement for isolated incident of violence.
