When John had asked the same question to Helen, she just chose to ignore it. So we can rightly assume that It was simply Helen's style of materialising.

However, one can also say that it was beacause she always has late night duties and is also allocated with jobs in the morning so she always complains about it and is very tired to show up the next day.
