NATO: North Atlantic Treaty Organization. when looking at my globe I see that India is nowhere near the North Atlantic. It was created in 1949 to create military stability for predominantly Europe and USA after the end of WWII during the start of the“Cold War” with an eye on creating a counter balance to the USSR moving aggressively to create satellite territories in Eastern and Central Europe. True, Greece and Turkey joined in 1952 but as a part of creating a “West” Eeuropean alliance.
Warsaw Pact: 1955–1991 Was created by the USSR and its satellite countries of Eastern Europe as a counter to West German (actually the Western Sector of Germany) joining NATO in 1954. It was for counties in Central and Eastern Europe, again India is not in that sector.
Hope that helps

Answer:
India didn't join either NATO or SEATO due to the development of Non- Alignment which gave it a way of staying out of the alliances. India had faith in the policy of Non- Alignment.
