Mendeleev had successfully predicted the existence of elements which were not known at that time therefore he left gaps in his periodic table .
Example
Eka boron was for scandium
Eka aluminium for gallium

Hey dear,
● Why did Mendeleev leave gaps in his periodic table -
- Mendeleev put elements with increasing order of atomic masses & arranged them as a table.
- Also, he took care that elements with similar properties were put in same groups.
- For places where similar elements were not found, Mendeleev predicted that as unknown elements.
- He left gaps for these unknown elements which were later discovered.
- For example, Mendeleev predicted and left space for silicon like element which was later found to be germanium.
Thanks for asking..
