Answer: He wanted to shift his capital from Delhi to Devgiri so that he has a better control over the Deccan plateau and to save himself from the attacks of the Mangols. This caused heart hardships to people and many people died on the way. The result was just opposite because of his absence the Mangols decided to attack his territory of North India. After 5 years he ordered a retreat that caused even more hardships to the people, again many people died on the way and caused a great loss of life, property and money.
