Why did protaplasm renamed as cytoplasm

Protoplasm includes both the substance within and the cell membrane and is the " living substance" of the cell. It can be differentiated into cytoplasm and the nucleus.
The cytoplasm consists of all of the contents outside of the nucleus and enclosed within the cell membrane of a cell. This includes the cytosol and in eukaryotic cells , organelles such as mitochondria and ribosomes. So it is one and the same thing but cytoplasm is INSIDE the protoplasm or you cam say that the protoplasm is made up of cytoplasm
