The astrologer makes this remark on condition that he would do so if his astrological predictions were proved wrong. However, the money-minded and opportunistic astrologer would become an insurance agent who also deals in predictions and suppositions regarding the future. It is a comment on how insurance agents can also been seen as astrologer who make their living depending upon other people's lives and deaths.

The astrologer said that he would become an insurance agent because it would help him increase the profit.

Explanation

  • since The astrologer had the idea of astrology he could look into the future of people and as a result of this he could predict the outcome of insurance in his life , he would give the insurance coverage to only those people from which he could earn his profit as there was no life risk to them.
  • By this way he would not only increase his standard of living but also the living of the other insurance company agents
