Why did the constitution makers make provisions for amendments in the constitution?

to maintain law and order,the dignity and rights of the citizens ,the constitution makers made some provisions for the amendment of constitution from time to time . at the same time this process is not at all easy .all amendments can be initiated only in the Union parliament.
