Her eyes was resting on the glittering handcuffs as she was thinking that now her old friend became a Marshall who is one of the dashing western heroes.

Miss Fairchild's eyes rested upon the glittering silver handcuffs because her friend from Washington - Mr.Easton , was the one who was handcuffed to the glum faced man. She was horrified as she saw the handcuffs which also caused her to remember the happy memories with him..
