Once Mahatma Gandhi and his friend developed got fascinated with the idea of smoking. Gandhiji was inspired by his uncle`s habit of smoke. Since they had no money they started gathering the stumps of cigarettes left by Gandhiji`s uncle.
The stumps of cigarettes did not give them much pleasure as a consequence they soon developed the habit of stealing from the pocket of servant to afford Indian cigarettes.They had to smoke in a stealthy manner so that the elders don`t catch them. It soon got frustrated by this arrangement and were fed up of seeking permission from elders to do something. This gave way to the idea of committing suicide.
They found out that Dhatura seeds were poisonous and made up their mind to go for it. As they were about to consume few of these seeds few questions started creeping up in their mind like what if the poison does not work, how would they face the elders after this incident etc. This made them give up the idea of suicide.
