Atoms have equal No. of positively charged protons and Negatively charged electrons.So, the charges balance out and the net electric charge of the atom is Neutral

The charge of one electron is -1 and the charge of one proton is 1. The neutrons in the atoms don't carry any charge.
Every atom has the same number of electrons and protons. So, the overall electric charge is zero and the atom is electrically neutral.
