Why do damaged seeds float on water

The bad seeds are light in weight while the good seeds are heavier due to accumulation of the nutrients from the plant during its growth. When the fertilization takes place, the zygote is formed

floating seeds are lighter or hollow and damaged and removed off so, good and healthy seeds are separated from damaged seed by pouring the seeds into water .so damaged seed are float on the water
