why do gases not have a definite volume
hasratjamal:
Solids and liquids have volumes thatdo not change easily. A gas, on the other hand, has a vol- ume that changes to match the volume of its container. The molecules in a gas arevery far apart compared with the molecules in a solid or a liquid. The amount of space between the molecules in a gas can change easily.

because there molecules are loosely packed and their intermolecular force is less

Particles are far apart from each other because there are very weak forces of attraction between them. Because of this, gases don't have a definite shape or volume and fill any container. Because there is lots of free space between particles, gases can easily be compressed.
