Herbivores have longer small intestine than carnivores because cellulose is digested in small intestine. herbivores have to digest cellulose which is obtained from green plants. Whereas carnivores don’t have to digest any type of cellulose therefore they have shorter small intestine .

because it's harder to digest plant matter in a way that's gets optimal level of nutrition from it..

That's why herbivores envolved the longest digestive system,so that the plant matter stays in their system long enough to get digested to the highest level possible.
