inert gas also knows as Noble gas contains full electron in their outermost shell called as valence shell...therefore it is very less reactive and don't react with any metal nonmetals or with itself two form diatomic or triatomic molecule..... therefore they occurs in monoatomic molecules

Answer: Because they have their valence shell completed so they don't need to share or give or gain electrons.
So they exist as monoatoms
