The ionic compounds are made up of positive and negative ions. There is very strong force of attraction between the opposite charged ions. Therefore a lot of energy is required to break this force of attraction and melt this compound. That is why ionic compounds have high melting points.

some ions have positive charge and some have negative. by resulting of both the melting point of ions fixed .
if they have to need more energy to break down the formation .then, more energy is required that's why some compounds have high melting point
