why do stars twinkle?

Actually star do not twinkle. When the rays of light come from the sky then it get reflect by our atmosphere and because of this stars seems to be twinkle.

Stars appear as point-sized sources of light since they are distant objects.The physical conditions of the atmosphere,through which the starlight travels,keeps on fluctuating.Therefore the apparent position of the star fluctuates and the amount of starlight entering the eye flickers.Hence, the stars appear to twinkle.
