Dear Student,

Objects to be viewed through a compound microscope must be brightly illuminated because -

- A compound microscope is an instrument that is used to view magnifies images of small objects on a glass slide.

- It has 2 lenses - objective lens & eyepiece lens.

- In compound microscope, light is reflected from the mirror and approaches the slide through small aperture called iris.

- Sometimes, sunlight is not sufficient to illuminate the objects on slide.

- Hence, artificial source of light is added for bright illumination of the object in compound microscope.

Hope this helped. Thanks for asking..
