it has high intermolecular space between them

Answer: Solids have constant shape because of tight intermolecular attractive force between them. The liquids and gases have particles with less intermolecular attractive force and so they can flow and stick to shape of the container. Compression of liquid and gases is easy, but it is tough to compress solids.

As we know that intermolecular force is less in liquid than solid and its kinetic motion is more. So it has not definite shape and so it take shape of container in which it kept.
