We need the standard meridian in India as there is a time lag of about 2 hours between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh .
To avoid any kind of confusion due to time in different states . India adopted a standard meridian at 80°30E which passes through Mirzapur in Uttar pradesh.
I hope this would help.

If their will different times at different places, then it would be a lot confusing. Hence to remove this confusion, the Meridian 82'30 Degrees passing near Allahabad is taken as the standard meridian.
