Why do we need matrices?

This is a squarematrix because the number of rows equals the number of columns. We can only addmatrices of the same dimensions, because we add the corresponding elements. . Matrixmultiplication is another matter entirely.

you can solve 12 equations, or you can solve one matrix equation.

scalar, vector, matrix

You could keep track of details and work with scalars. Once a year, you would solve a set of equations, instead of once a day.

With these we can write theorems and equations that generalize to any rule or any quantity of values.

Another nice reason is that matrices are cpu/gpu friendly; computers take advantage of matrices to speed up processing their expressions.

They save space while conveying the same information.

It's a form that's easily input to computers.
