because sound waves forms by alternate compression and rarefaction. Hence, sound wave is longitudinal wave.

we say that sound waves are longitudinal waves becoz sound waves travel through creating a series of compression and rarefaction....

The air particles vibrate parallel to the wave propogation...

this is the reason y sound waves are called longitudinal waves.........
