Oliver Lutkins was able to fool the lawyer. The lawyer had been searching for Oliver Lutkins the whole day, but it turned out that the person who helped him that day, Bill, was Oliver Lutkins himself. All the villagers helped Oliver in this and made a fool of a lawyer who was much more educated than all of them. As the neighbours did not see the lawyer, they could not believe that a person could be a fool to such an extent. Thus, they wanted to meet him.
