Many teachers rejected religious believes and practices because religious believes and practices like sacrifices, untouchability, etc.were written in the vedas by aryas or saints. This led only to discrimination and caste differences in the society. Many protested and thought that these religious practices and traditions did not have any meaning. For example, when shudras entered the doorsteps of the upper castes, they were not allowed in the house and were given things by passing it on the floor. After they left, pure water was sprinkled in the house and on the streets. people in that house had to take bath to purify themselves.
