Here are some of the reasons why women are few in parliament:
1. Stereotypes: The belief that women are "supposed" to behave in a certain way while men also are "supposed" to behave in particular way. This has prevented most women from pursuing this.
2. In the past women did not have the right to stand as candidates in any elections. This has has a prolonged effect even in the contemporary society.
3. Social discrimination: The society itself doesn't support women who want to go against customs or religion. Like women speaking in public was considered a taboo in some societies
4. Gender inequality: Some societies don't fight for gender equality like educating women rather focus on education of boys. This has also affected the number of women who can pursue politics

Because women are not given equal opportunities to prove themselves and showcase their talent even in politics people think that they are not meant for these jobs and hence there are so few women in parliament.But now there is reserved seats for women for there representation in parliament.
