Untouchability is the practice of discriminating between certain sections of the society based on casteism.

1. Untouchability is a social evil
because the backward classes are denied the very fundamental rights, which are guaranteed to each and every citizen by the Constitution.

2. Untouchability alienates people from the social structure and hinders the progress of the society as a whole.

3. The untouchables are considered 'impure' and are denied access to all basic rights and facilities, which they are entitled to for a living.

4. They do not get access to education and are left ignorant of healthcare issues, cleanliness, etc.

5. The practice of untouchability disturbs the spirit of communal harmony and universal brotherhood.

Untouchability is a big social evil especially for a democratic country like India where we try to pride ourselves on social justice and equality, regardless of race, religion and creed. However, the caste system makes some casts, untouchable, considered very low in status.
These people are discriminated against and are not given education, chances of jobs etc. This a huge social evil and can destroy the social fabric of India.

Some points are:

1. Against Democracy
2. Against Human Rights
3. Promotes Racism
4. Keeps poverty in the caste as they are prevented from education, jobs etc.
5. Promotes intolerance
