Untouchability is a social evil due to the following:

1) All men are created equal.
2) Everyone has equal rights in a democracy.
3) Dividing society on the lines of caste, creed and colour break up our sense of togetherness.
4) Benefits of a progressive society should percolate down and disperse horizontally along all levels.
5) Discriminating people because of their birth could create a backlash.
6) Unless we get rid of untouchability, no one will help us in our hour of need.
7) We must respect everyone who serve us.
