Why do zygotes(diploid) of fungi and bryphotes have to undergo meiosis?? In humans zygote is also diploid but there is no need of meiosis then why in them ??

bcoz in bryophytes and fungi main plant body is haploid so to maintain the chromosome no they have to go meiosis for the zygote but the humans are diploid
