Amoeba changes it's shape because it does not have a rigid pellicle to retain it's shape. It extends it's cytoskeleton using pseudopodia( false feet). pseudo - means false and podia - means feet. It uses them for locomotion and for different purposes. Such organisms which have ability to change their shape are called pleomorphic organisms.

as it is unicellular to catch it prey and to move forward it changes its shape.
