Why does catenaruon property decrease down the group?

The size of carbon atom is small and as a result, a strong C – C bond is formed. Hence, any number of carbon atoms can be linked to each other by covalent bonds. As we move down the group the atomic size increases and the strength of bonds decreases. Therefore, down the group catenation power decreases.
