Helen had a wonderful experience celebrating her first Christmas with Miss Sullivan. Miss Sullivan and Helen prepared surprises for every family member. Helen loved playing gifts guessing games; this improved her language skills. Tuscumbia school children invited Helen to celebrate Christmas Eve with them. She was asked to give Christmas gifts to children which delighted her a lot. On the Christmas night, she hung her stocking. She pretended to sleep in hope of hearing Santa Claus come. But she fell asleep. Early in the morning when she woke up, she was overwhelmed with the number of gifts. Her room was full of gifts. Miss Sullivan also gifted her a canary bird; Helen was very happy on that particular Christmas.
