the melting point of plastic is really very low so when we put a plastic bottle into hot water the bottle melts and get squished

sharansarthak49: Its because it depends on the quality of bottle if its nice it will not melt it comes with the concept of thermo plastic and thermo settings if the bottle is in in the category of thermo plastic it will melt and squish it is done with pet bottles
arshthind: no all plastic of bottles is melt easily and it change bottle shape

Actually plastic bottle is made of special type of  polymer i.e Polyethylene terephthalate. This polymer comes into the category of thermoplastic. Such, thermoplastic nature of polymer  tends to have the property to deform on heating and  harden on again cooling due to presence of long chain with the absence of cross linking. This absence of cross-linking between the molecules make the bottle material to get easily effected by the heat and material become weak due to breaking of bond in the materials and deforms.
