ahoy yena!!

_________

why do our fingers shrink or get wrinkled when we place them for a long time in water?

=> well, our skin has got pores. Not just face but whole body.

i guess, you are familiar with the term clogged pores.

=> the pores have got different sweat glands, sebaceous glands (the ones which cause acne.)

=> as we place our hands in water the water moves into the pores making some of the portion of finger to swell up and some of it remains the same which makes it look like wrinkles.

=> More wrinkly fingers can be found when hands are placed in cold water. This is because in addition to movement of water in our pores, our blood vessels contract.

=> Things get better when we take our hands out and be in sunlight for some while.

what can be the advantage of this?

=> every function in our body is related to some kind of advantage.

=> we know water can make things slippery and we have not got anything which can prevent that. That is why wrinkled fingers come in.

=> they provide us with better grip thus preventing us from losing the grip over thing we hold.

(try playing basketball after placing hands in cold water! that's a cool trick to have better grip. )
