South West Monsoons from the Arabian ocean arrive in India from the West side. They carry a lot of rain water from the ocean. So on the coast it rains heavily. As the winds carry the clouds further inside the lands, the humidity content reduces. So rainfall in the central part reduces.
It is similar for the monsoons from the East side from the Bay of Bengal. The humidity content in the clouds and winds reduces from the coast towards the inside. As clouds rain, the water content reduces further.
The central part of India has less rainfall compared to the coastal areas.
