sugar cane is crushed to get the juice
the juice is then boiled and impurities are removed. to get a clear solution, charcoal, lime or SO2 are used to bleach the solution
it is then boiled to make a thick, viscous syrup
seed(fine grains of sugar) is added to the syrup and it is the heated in vacuum to speed up the process
sugar gets deposited on the fine grains and new seed is created.
the crystal + syrup solution is rotated in a centrifugal machine
crystals of sugar are separated from the liquid
the crystals are heated to remove any excess water
they are then packaged according to the size of the crystal. S for small, M for medium crystal, L for large
the beauty of this process is that nothing is wasted, pulp of the sugarcane is first heated, this removes the water it has and is added back to the juice, the steam generated is used to cleanse the juice. the dry pulp is burned to generate the heat to boil the juice. the end syrup created is used in distilleries to create alcohol or vinegar.
