as we move down the group the atomic radius increases thus the distance between protons and outmost electrons increases and force of attractions between them reduces. so electron from the outmost shell knocks out easily.
we know a metal loses electron easily so
down the group metallic character increases as electron losing tendency increases.

Answer:- As we move down the group, the number shells increases. The effective nuclear charge experienced by valence electrons decreases because the outermost electrons move farther away from the nucleus. Therefore these balance electrons can be lost easily. By losing the electrons, elements gain positive charge. Hence, metallic character increase down the group.
