Hola Amigooo!!
===================================
The narrator says that because he was relieved to get out of that plane. He had a very horrifying and unstable experience in the old Dakota and that is why he let out a sigh of relief when he got out.

Hope this helps!!! =)

Why does the narrator say, "I landed & was not sorry to walk away from the old Dakota"?
When the narrator landed on the runway after a stormy flight he was relieved to be alive & didn't wish to see the Dakota.
The Aeroplane, as it was a reminder of the nightmare he had experienced in the storm.
