Answer: polar solvents usually does not dissolve in nonpolar solvents as they have more attraction towards Each Other rather than towards a non polar solvent as I2 is a purely covalent bond structure and hence its nonpolar molecule and that's why it does not dissolve in water which is a polar solvent.
