why doesnt a bird get shock when it stands on a high voltage wire

because when the bird is standing on the high voltage wire it has no contact to the ground..

Birds are not good conductors of electron. Their cells do not offer electrons to flow.
The birds don't get shock when they stand in a single wire that has same voltage through but when the bird sitting on a wire and when it flaps it's wing that touches another wire then the bird get electrocuted and die this is because the body of the birds are in contact with two different voltages.
