the wall of epidermal cells that constitute the leaf surface is often thicker than the other walls this can be particularly well observe with the epidermis of conifer needles and that of eggs xerophyta (plants living in dry Habitat) aquatic plants have usually thin walls

Epidermis of plant living in dry habitat such as Xerophyte are thicker compare to other plants. Plant of dry habitat have thick epidermis so that little amount of water is lost. Whereas Water plants have thinner epidermis because they don't have any limitations of amount of water.
