Why europian attracted to africa? in late 19 centuary?

Two reason:)


Africa is extremely rich in natural resources like gold, diamond, copper etc. Europeans wanted to extract such mineral resources to provide raw material for their own industrialization. Europeans also wanted to create plantations of cash crops like rubber, cotton, cocoa etc. Again, the intention was to use such crops to fuel European industrialization.

2. African states were weak and were in no position to resist military aggression by European states. Hence, European states were in a position to defeat them easily and establish colonies.

Africa remained unknown to the world for a long time due to its inaccessible interior. ... David Livingstone were the first explorers to venture into the interior of Africa. The Europeans named it dark continent because of its dense forests, Marshes, swamps and vast deserts.
