Why exchange of energy takes place in chemical changes only not in physical change?

Because when sun rays fall to the live it directly goes inside and change into in the form of proteins by chemically and it is done by chloroplast which is present in only plant cell

the exchange of energy takes place to form a new substance whereas in physical change no new substance is formed so exchange of energy does not take place
