lectronegativity of Fluorine. Fluorineis the most electronegative elementbecause it has 5 electrons in it's 2P shell. The optimal electron configuration of the 2P orbital contains 6 electrons, so since Fluorine is so close to ideal electron configuration, the electrons are held very tightly to the nucleus.

Hey folk !!

Here's the answer you are looking for

The electronic configuration of F (9) is
1 {s}^{2} \:  \:  2 {s}^{2}  \:  \: 2 {p}^{5}

It requires only one electron to attain octet.

So, it has a tendency to attract electrons.

Secondly, due to the small size of F, its effective nuclear charge over the valence shell is higher than any other Electronegative atom.

Therefore, it can easily attract electron towards itself.

☛ Electronegativity means the tendency of an atom to attract the shared pair of electron toward itself.

Therefore, Fluorine is the most Electronegative atom.
