Follicular phase or proliferatory phase is a part of menstrual cycle...
It is named so because as the endometrial lining breaks during the menstrual phase which is approx. 3-3.5 cm in thickness becomes 1-1.5 cm and thus to increase the thickness a series of changes takes place...
This thickness is maintained as to assure that if fertilization takes place the developing foetus to obtain nourishment....
