because HCl contains both H+ and Cl-atoms
when it react with oxygen H is realised from HCl to react with oxygen
water is formed . Therefore the from reaction hydrogen is released and oxygen is added
so HCl is a oxidizing as well as reducing agent
4HCl + O2 -> 2H2O + 2Cl2
