due to a southern oscillation near Peru for every 2-3 years Indian ocean experiences low pressure while the Pacific ocean experiences high pressure...but after 2-3 years the reverse happens the Indian ocean experiences high pressure while the Pacific ocean experiences low pressure....this southern oscillation is named as elnino southern oscillations......
