they didnot choose the particular date...that british said that we will give u freedom if u prepare ur own constitution...and the day after finishing the constitution and came force is on jan 26th known as republic day....british announced the date after gandhi asking them to leave....INDIA...and on aug 14th pakistan was seperated from india
